1. What Is Baby’s Tears (Soleirolia soleirolii)?

Baby’s Tears, also known as Angel’s Tears, is a delicate trailing plant with tiny, round leaves. The foliage is soft, lush, and tends to form a dense mat of greenery when given the right conditions. While it looks fragile, it's surprisingly resilient—with the right care.

2. Our Plant in May 2022: Small but Promising

We started with just a small sprig of Baby’s Tears and placed it in a pot with moist, well-draining soil. The leaves were barely covering the top surface of the pot, forming a small, green cushion. It didn’t look like much at first, but we had hope.

3. Rapid Growth by November: Starting to Spill Over

Unlike fast growers like basil that sprout, flower, and fade within months, Baby’s Tears takes its time. But once it settles, the growth becomes visible. By early November, the plant had begun to trail slightly over the edge of the pot. By late November, it had noticeably grown—soft green tendrils reaching down with more confidence.

4. January 2023: Lush, Trailing, and Totally Wild

After about 8 months of consistent care and exposure to grow lights, the Baby’s Tears had exploded into a wild, tangled mess of beauty. The soft strands flowed down like overgrown hair—an untrimmed but delightful display of natural chaos.

💡 Light is non-negotiable: Without enough light, the plant becomes weak. Grow lights worked well in our case.

💧 Avoid overhead watering: The leaves melt or rot easily when wet. Always use bottom-watering to keep the roots hydrated while the foliage stays dry.
