🌱 2023 Companion Plant Kit Industry Expo – Visit Recap from National Sejong Arboretum
Discover Korea’s growing companion plant industry through kits, hands-on activities, and award-winning green products!
1. A Seasonal Visit to the National Sejong Arboretum
I visited the National Sejong Arboretum on the very last day of the 2023 Companion Plant Kit Industry Expo.
The event banner was clearly visible from the parking lot, and I purchased my ticket (5,000 won) through the unmanned ticketing machine.
Though the path to the Four Seasons Greenhouse felt a bit empty due to the winter season, I recalled how vibrant it had been just a month earlier during the Companion Plant Festival. Tulip bulbs had already been planted—spring will be beautiful here.
2. Inside the 2023 Companion Plant Kit Industry Expo
This was the second year of the Companion Plant Kit Industry Expo, which first launched in 2022.
Dozens of booths were set up by companies involved in gardening, indoor plants, and plant-based design kits.
Some participating booths included:
- Gyeryong Healing Farm Co., Ltd.
- LG Electronics x Groro
- JoMuRaeGi (Korean Traditional Landscape Department)
- Ian Gardening
- Maum Deurin Forest
- Jeju Star Studio
- …and many more.
I wasn’t able to take photos of every booth due to crowding, but the variety of ideas on display was impressive.
3. Companion Plant Hands-on Experience Zone
There was a terrarium-making experience zone where visitors could create their own mini plant worlds.
The sessions were free but required on-site registration, which had already closed when I arrived.
Most participants were young children with parents, and as an adult visitor, I ended up observing from a distance—but it looked really fun!
4. Award-Winning Companion Plant Kits
An entire section of the expo was dedicated to award-winning companion plant kits, which were judged based on design, education value, and plant integration.
Some awards included:
- 🏆 Grand Prize
- 🌿 Plant Utilization Excellence
- 🎨 Design Excellence
- 📚 Educational Use Excellence
- 👥 Consumer Choice Award
These kits offered creative solutions for combining daily life with greenery—perfect for classrooms, homes, and even wellness centers.
5. My Purchase – Groro’s Potting Kit
I stopped by the Groro booth and bought two companion plant kits at their event discount:
a herb kit and a flower kit. I’ll be uploading unboxing videos on both YouTube and my blog—stay tuned!
