🌱 Unboxing Tiium Mini: LG’s Smart Indoor Gardening Device
Grow Basil, Control LED Lighting, and Automate Your Indoor Garden
I finally unboxed the LG Tiium Mini Smart Planter—a long-awaited moment, all thanks to my growing basil collection!
If you’re considering a smart indoor gardening solution with automated LED lights and seed kits, this is what you can expect. (LG Tiium Mini Official Web)
📦 Tiium Mini Unboxing Experience
I purchased two Tiium Minis:
- One beige model from 11st, on a special deal
- One mint model from PAYCO, also at a discounted price
The product arrived in a large, well-packaged box—no styrofoam or bubble wrap inside.
Instead, the internal cardboard packaging keeps everything secure and clean.
Opening the box felt like unboxing a luxury bag—stylish, minimal, and tightly packed.
And yes, I took a commemorative photo with my favorite pot from Imuya, too. 😄
🧩 What’s in the Kit?
- Tiium Mini unit
- LED grow light system
- Seed kit (mine came with the Vitamin Kit)
- Assembly rod
- Minimal printed instructions
The seed kit packaging seems to have been updated compared to older versions, but the overall contents remain the same.
🔌 Power On & First Impressions
Once plugged in, the grow light turns on—and surprisingly, it's quite bright.
The glow feels like a natural mood light, but powerful enough to help plants grow.
While Tiium’s own seed kits are available, I didn’t use them yet.
Instead, I placed my basil plants under the Tiium Mini right away.
They were already struggling without enough light, and this was a rescue mission.
🌿 Why I Opened It: Because of Basil
Yes. It’s true.
I unboxed Tiium Mini because of my basil.
Currently growing 22 varieties of basil, I needed a stronger light source to support healthy leaf and flower development.
Eventually, I hope to harvest basil, make pizza and pasta, and even collect seeds!

📱 Setting Up the LG ThinQ App
Tiium Mini connects with the LG ThinQ app—just like other LG smart appliances.
I registered both of my units easily.
Best part?
You can set the grow light timer and brightness directly from the app.
The lights will turn on and off automatically based on your settings.
It’s so convenient—no more manually flipping switches every morning and night!
💡 What Can You Grow in Tiium?
Inside the ThinQ app, you can browse seed kits available for Tiium Mini.
There’s no basil, but cherry tomatoes are included—so if that’s possible, most leafy greens should be fine too.
💡 Why LED Grow Lights Matter
Even if you don’t use LG Tiium, indoor gardening still needs grow lights.
In my next post, I’ll explain exactly why grow lights make all the difference for indoor plants.

⚠️ Small Setup Tip
Initially, I planned to use a dual-outlet power strip—but both Tiium Minis couldn't fit side-by-side because of their square plugs.
To avoid any power or fire hazards, I switched to a 5-socket strip with extra space between ports.
Make sure you plan your setup safely!
💬 Final Thoughts
Smart gardening doesn’t need to be complicated.
With Tiium Mini and a few basil plants, I’ve created a small oasis right on my shelf.
If you're looking for a tech-assisted way to grow herbs, greens, or even cherry tomatoes indoors—this is it.
